International Intellectual Practice Law, Practice & EnforcementThe course will examine the substance, implementation and enforcement of international agreements that establish minimum standards of protection in intellectual property amongst member states, including the Berne Convention, the Paris Treaty and TRIPS. We will study international and regional intellectual property registry systems such as EU/OHIM and the Madrid Protocol and Agreement, and we discuss international filing strategies for various types of intellectual property and global exploitation of a company’s intellectual property portfolio. Finally, we will survey enforcement provisions provided by key territories to combat international trade in counterfeit goods and best practice measures for a global anti-counterfeiting program.
