Advanced Legal Research Workshop
The focus of this course is on honing time-effective and cost-effective legal research skills using print tools, Lexis and Westlaw, and the Internet. Subjects to be covered include the following (with electronic resources to be fully integrated into each subject): statutory and legislative materials, case law, regulations and regulatory decisions, court rules, looseleaf services, restatements of the law and other secondary sources, government documents, international law, and practice materials. Each session will include lecture, discussion and hands-on research work designed to develop students' informed use of essential materials. Students will produce research pathfinders evaluating the information resources available in subject areas of interest such as tax, securities, commercial, or international law.Credits: 3
