Fordham Law School Habitat for Humanity Chapter members enjoy combining their law school studies with physical work and helping build simple, decent, affordable houses in partnership with those in need of adequate shelter. We participate in both:
* Saturday day-trips to work with a Habitat affiliate in the New York City tri-state area; and
* week-long trip over spring break
Students perform hands-on construction work, including carpentry, dry-wall installation, painting, and roofing, under the supervision of volunteer skilled tradespeople.
Our biggest event of the year is our spring break trip, where 20-30 law students and faculty travel to a (usually warm) location for 6-7 days. Students pay a small fee (usually the cost of the flight) and we spend the week volunteering during the day with a Habitat for Humanity chapter.
Spring Break 2012:
This spring, Habitat will be returning to Melbourne, FL to work with the Brevard County Habitat for Humanity Chapter. Sign up with our TWEN group to get all updates and e-mails regarding the trip and how to apply.
