(CBS News)  Fashion models seem to have it all. Many people think they lead a beautiful, glamorous life, traveling the world and looking fantastic. But longtime model Sara Ziff says that image is deceiving.

Ziff, with the non-profit organization she founded, Model Alliance, is highlighting the problems models have on the job, from claims of sexual abuse to disregard of child labor laws and encouragement of eating disorders.

Fashion models, Ziff noted on "CBS This Morning," are often put in situations that can be compromising.

"The Model Alliance is really working to give models basic rights and protections that any other performer has," she said. "You look at dancers or musicians or actors, and they rely on the support of unions. Models don't have anything like that."
