Dispute Resolution Society Negotiation Team Wins 3rd Place in North AmericaFebruary 17, 2010
Fordham Law’s Dispute Resolution Society Negotiation Team placed 3rd in North America at the American Bar Association’s National Negotiation Competition, held February 5-6 in Orlando. Fordham finished ahead of more than 200 teams from over 100 U.S. and Canadian law schools for the second year in a row.
Fordham advanced two teams to Nationals after all three of its teams were finalists in the Regional Competition in November.

Matt Bress '11 and Patrick Jacobs '11 placed 3rd after the preliminary rounds and received perfect scores in their semifinal round. They were one of four teams that advanced to the finals, where they placed 3rd overall.
A second team consisting of Allie Berkley '11 and Patrick Featherston '11 placed 5th after the first day and finished 6th overall, missing the final rounds by only one point.
"Congratulations to the Dispute Resolution Society Team for their outstanding finish," said Dean William Michael Treanor. "This accomplishment demonstrates the remarkable talent of our team and affirms their continued success in national competition."

"Our students are totally dedicated and talented, and they continue to impress me with their outstanding skills in competition."
The Dispute Resolution Society Negotiation Team was coached by Negotiation Editor Jordan Manekin '11 (MBA '11) and received assistance from Managing Editor Elena Poleganova '10 and Competition Editor Nicole Mazanitis '10. The team also received guidance from several members of the Fordham Law faculty and alumni, including Professors Jacqueline Nolan-Haley, Beth Schwartz, Deborah Shapiro, Peggy Leibowitz, and Alumni Coach Bill Belitsky '06.
“This is a huge success for the Dispute Resolution Society. I’m very proud of the Negotiation Team as well as all of the members of the Society, dedicated alumni, and professors that helped the teams prepare for competition,” said Michael Camarinos '10, Chairman of the Society. “We look forward to building on this success in other Dispute Resolution competitions this year.”
Fordham Law's Dispute Resolution Program is ranked 10th in the nation by the 2010 U.S. News & World Report. The Society has won the ABA Regional Negotiation Championship 5 times in the past 7 years and has advanced to the national competition for 6 of the past 7 years. The Dispute Resolution Society also competes in national and international mediation and arbitration competitions, hosts an annual symposium attended by hundreds of academics and professionals in the ADR field, and teaches a course on negotiation techniques to high school students at MLK Jr. High School.
