Harold E. Rolfe has served as the chief legal officer of two corporations operating in very different industries.
From 1998 to 2007, Mr. Rolfe was Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of The Hertz Corporation, the operator of the world’s best-known car rental brand and one of North America’s principal equipment rental companies. While there, he represented the company in its sale to a consortium of private equity funds in what then was the second largest leveraged buy-out in U.S. history and in two subsequent public offerings. From 1991 to 1998, he was Vice President and General Counsel of Corporate Property Investors, Inc., one of the nation’s largest real estate investment trusts. In addition to his responsibilities for legal matters, Mr. Rolfe was responsible for Hertz’s airport relations and real estate portfolio, consisting of several thousand properties, and for CPI’s real estate tax and risk management functions.
Mr. Rolfe began his legal career as an Associate in the Corporate Department of Cravath, Swaine & Moore, in New York, where he worked on a broad range of financing, public offering, acquisition and real estate transactions.
