Stephen R. Greenwald is former President of Metropolitan College of New York. A graduate of Rutgers University and New York University School of Law, where he finished first in his class, Stephen also received his L.L.M. degree from NYU School of Law in 1995. He has taught at Temple University Law School, the Benjamin Cardozo School of Law and Hebrew University. He has represented capital defendants in post-conviction proceedings in North Carolina and Alabama for over 10 years. In addition to his academic and pro bono work, Stephen has practiced law in the private sector and has worked in the media industry.

Stephen is President of the American Association of Jewish Lawyers and Jurists and Chair of the Committee on Capital Punishment of The Association of the Bar of the City of New York. He has been a frequent visitor to Israel and counts many in the Israeli legal community among his friends and colleagues.
